In the valley, temperatures range between -5°C and 5°CWhile on the ski slopes (1,800-2,640m) temperatures can drop to -15°C. Guaranteed snow in Grandvalira and Vallnord makes Andorra one of the most affordable ski destinations in Europe, with lift passes from €40 per day. Snowfall in the valley bottom is frequent, especially in January and February.

What to packThermal underwear, fleece, waterproof and windproof jacket, gloves, hat, hiking boots with non-slip soles. For driving: snow chains or winter tires (mandatory on mountain roads when there is snow).

Spring (March – May): thaw and tranquility

Spring is a transitional season. March still allows skiing at high altitudes, while April and May see the valleys bloom and the first hiking trails open. Temperatures rise from 10°C in March to 17°C in MaySpring rains are frequent but brief. It's a time with few tourists and lower hotel prices.

What to packLayers, a lightweight waterproof jacket, and hiking boots are recommended. In March, it may still snow sporadically in the valley.

Summer (June – August): hiking and cool weather

The Andorran summer is a great alternative to the Mediterranean heat. While Barcelona records 35-38°C in July, Andorra la Vella stays at 22-25°C The high mountain trails offer temperatures of 15-18°C. August is the busiest month of the year, with over 8 million annual visitors concentrated in the summer months. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August (typical mountain weather): clear morning, thunderstorm between 3:00 and 6:00 PM.

What to pack: light clothing for the valley, waterproof layer for excursions, high sunscreen (altitude intensifies UV radiation), trekking shoes if you plan routes.

Autumn (September – November): colors and silence

Autumn is the favorite season for those who know Andorra. September and October offer pleasant temperatures (14-20°CThe pine and beech forests turn orange and red, and the summer tourists have left. Autumn hiking is spectacular. In November, the cold sets in, and the first snowfalls at higher altitudes herald the ski season.

What to packMedium-weight clothing, layers, comfortable boots. The weather can change quickly in October.

Climate varies by altitude: the valley is not the same as the mountain

Andorra has an altitude difference of almost 2,000 meters between its lowest point (Sant Julià de Lòria, 908m) and its highest (Pic de la Comapedrosa, 2,942m). This creates very distinct microclimates:

Valley (900-1,100m)The warmest and with the least snow. Andorra la Vella and Sant Julià de Lòria.
